Hey, I'm Danilo.
A Brazilian Product Designer living in Portugal. I work with fintech and B2B SaaS teams on the problems that are too complex, too ambiguous, or too consequential to get wrong.

Introduction

I've spent 15+ years at the intersection of product strategy and design craft; mostly in environments where the stakes are real: financial products, marketplaces, neobanking, B2B platforms. I don't work on isolated features. I work on the underlying problem — figuring out what's actually worth building, then leading the design from discovery to measurable outcome.

Right now I'm at Uphold, designing complex financial products for a global crypto and neobanking platform. With AI as part of how I work across the entire process: sharpening discovery, accelerating prototyping, pressure-testing ideas before a line of code is written.

Outside of client work, I mentor early-career designers at Squad Academy, a career transition programme I help build from the ground up. When I'm not deep in a product problem, I'm somewhere new with my wife and our son.

How I think about design

Good design is an act of reduction. The most enduring work strips away the unnecessary until only the essential remains, not because simplicity is fashionable, but because clarity respects the people who use what we make. I approach every project as a systems problem first. Constraints, flows, real jobs to be done, before a single frame is drawn. I'm sceptical of trends and loyal to first principles. I build design languages that scale, component libraries that a team can own, and decisions that are documented and reasoned, because good work should outlast the sprint it was born in.
